QUALIFICATION:
Education: 3 years at vocational schools in “Chemistry” or 5 years at higher technical institutions (HTL) in the field of “Plastics Technology” 
Plastics Technology – key curriculum topics:
Materials / Manufacturing Technology / Plastic Processing / Automation Technology / Technical Mechanics / Machine Elements / Design & Product Development / Chemistry / Environmental Technology / Production Technology
Further knowledge:
CAD (Computer Aided Design) technology / CNC (Computerized Numerical Control) programming / Recycling Technology / Disposal Technology 
Practical experience: School-owned workshops and laboratories as well as through multi-week mandatory internships in companies 
Educational options: 
1 – Plastic Technician -> Apprenticeship 
2 – Plastic Technician -> Studies at University / University of Applied Sciences 

Completed technical training in the plastics sector as Plastics Technician / Process Mechanic in Plastics/Rubber Technology / Industrial Mechanic – Plastics Technology or comparable qualification

ACTIVITIES:
* Operating, setting up, and monitoring injection molding machines, thermoforming systems, and downstream processes (finishing, assembly)
* Preparing production orders: tool changes, parameter settings, material allocation, checking quality specifications
* Setting up processes, changing format, maintaining and troubleshooting on machines and peripherals
* Monitoring process parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle times) and optimizing to reduce scrap
* Conducting quality inspections (dimensions, surfaces, functional testing) and documentation
* Participating in tool and machine maintenance, small parts logistics
* Implementing GMP/ISO requirements and occupational safety and environmental protection standards
